First conceived by Van Woods, son of Sylvia Woods, founder of the famed Sylvia’s Restaurant in New York City, and long-time friend and business partner, Gary Greenhouse, Dr. Woods is rooted in a lifetime commitment to family, community and doing what’s right.

In short, we are committed to creating products that truly are “All Things Good.”

We strive to offer only the best natural ingredients for our products, and work hard to use free-trade and sustainably-produced items whenever and wherever we can.

Our ingredients and products are never tested on animals and are certified cruelty-free. Our vegan soaps are petroleum-free, detergent-free, and free from sulfates, parabens and phthalates.

How did we get our start?

Starting with our Black Soap, Dr. Woods’ vision was to produce high quality skin care products sourced worldwide but made right here in the United States.

What is Black Soap?

Raw black soap is a unique all-vegetable soap product whose key ingredient is derived from plantain skins, a highly renewable natural resource.

What is Shea Butter?

Harvested from the nut of the Karite tree, shea butter is indigenous to West Africa (our organic fair-trade shea butter comes specifically from the African Savannah).
